It’s always nice when a final question category is not only in one of your favorite categories (in this case, movie directors), but also rewards you for knowing a person’s odd name! More about that if you read on…
We only managed to finish in fourth for our efforts, but forgive us – not only are we competing against a national pool of players (though they are mostly from the East Coast area and Michigan), but as I’ve said before, there may be some naughty teams out there being unscrupulous in how they come up with answers!
Let’s look at those questions:
Round One
1 Clothing – What clothing accessory can be arranged in a half Windsor, Pratt, four-in-hand, or a full Windsor?
2 Subtitles – What is the ten-letter subtitle of the 2017 Spider-Man film that is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
3 Grammy Awards – In 2005, who set the record for most Grammy Awards won posthumously, with five, including Record of the Year and Album of the Year? Miss.
4 Mythology – What mythological sea creature with multiple heads is the namesake of the largest of the 88 modern constellations?
Mystery One –

Round Two
5 War History – Within one, in what year did World War I begin, when Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia?
NERD POINT: Get the year exactly correct.
Got this and the bonus point.
6 Symbols – What is the French name of the symbol used on the helmets of the New Orleans Saints?
7 TV Themes What TV series that aired from 1994-2003 has a theme song titled “Walk with You,” performed by Della Reese, who also plays a character named Tess?
8 Beer What pilsner-style beer with a high level of carbonation is the oldest brand of Miller Brewing Company, having been introduced in 1903? Did you know that there is a lake in Michigan that shares its name with this beer? The property was formerly owned by the Miller family before being donated to the state of Michigan.

We were in fourth going into the final with 50 points.
Final Category – Directors
Since 1990, three films with the word “good” in their titles (either on its own or as part of a word) have earned their directors an Academy Award for Best Director nomination. Name two of those three directors.
Came up with these fairly quickly. The most recent director didn’t even occur to me (I didn’t see the movie, biopics aren’t usually my bag).
Still, finishing in third ain’t too shabby! As always, Go Pods and stay classy, Ray Charles!
round one
necktie, homecoming, ray charles, hydra
round two
1914, fleur de lis, touched by an angel, high life
mystery one
Louisiana, new york, russia, australia
mystery two
