| Not the greatest showing in our most recent virtual trivia outing – apparently we don’t know the difference between a search engine and a web browser! Pardon us while we flog ourselves mercilessly for this hideous error!
We also missed questions about cities famous for their barbecued food and a mystery round question about elements. I had to tsk-tsk my husband for questioning me in my glassware knowledge since I do work in an establishment that not only sells glassware – but also an establishment where I have to open the damned things (and if all goes well not break them first)! Sometimes I feel like Homer Simpson and one of his three phrases to get you through life, which is “It was like that when I got here.” Yes, sometimes fragile items do not stay intact during shipping.
So what were Homer’s other two phrases to get you through life? I’m glad you asked – “Cover for me,” and “Good idea, boss.”
The more you know! Try these at work!
And the questions:
Round One
1 Language – Which day of the week is called Mittwoch in German, mercredi in French, and miércoles in Spanish? Gotta love it when high school French helps in a trivia game.
2 Websites – What search engine launched in June 2009 as a replacement for Microsoft Live Search? Miss, we put Microsoft Edge.
3 Cookbooks – What singer released a 2011 cookbook titled If It Makes You Healthy: More Than 100 Delicious Recipes Inspired by the Seasons? FB host clue.
4 Documentaries -The 2011 documentary 6 Days to Air follows the standard six-day production schedule of what Comedy Central TV series?
Mystery One (see photo above), we got all of the questions correct.
Round Two
5 Glasses – A rocks glass or lowball glass is also known by what name, which it shares with a cocktail that is traditionally served in it?
6 Song Titles – What five-letter word is in the titles of each of the songs heard in the following clips?
7 US Cities What Midwestern U.S. city has nicknames including the City of Fountains, the Jazz Capital of the World, and the BBQ Capital of the World? Right state, wrong city, miss.
8 Stadiums – Name one of the two NFC North division teams that play their home games in stadiums that are not named for a business or company. NERD POINT: Name both. Got one, not both.
We were in fifth with 42 points going into the final.
Final Category – World Geography
The historical and geographic region in Europe known as Thrace is located today in three countries. Name one of those three countries.
Thanks for knowing this, Mike! Did not change our standings.
We have our 700th game next! Can you believe that?
