Sorry, no answers for this recap (except final question answer). Eventually I’ll get back into a groove with doing that.
We were all too excited to have a final trivia question in a virtual trivia game about The Lord of the Rings! And also The Hobbit! Though we weren’t as excited about the two mystery rounds that nearly destroyed our game! We moved from last place to third (out of 10 teams playing) for getting the final right, though – so that made us feel nearly as good as Aragorn getting a full body massage at Rivendell! Well, maybe not THAT good! Are you picturing yourself getting a full body massage from an elven lass or lad at Rivendell yet?
Here were our questions:
Round One
1) TV Terms What television show is notable for popularizing a number of terms, including “sponge-worthy,” “close-talker,” and “Festivus”?
2) Cheese What type of cheeses, also known as Alpine cheeses, are commonly identifiable by their holes, known as eyes?
3) Audio question…
4) Dogs – Buddy, the Clintons’ dog during their time in the White House; Marley, the title dog in a book by John Grogan and its film adaptation; and Jake, a search and rescue dog who worked at the World Trade Center site following 9/11, were all what specific breed?
Mystery – Current Events
Answer the questions about events that have taken place recently.
M1. On April 25, the death of Kane Tanaka was announced, and she passed away as the second-oldest verified person ever. Within two, how many years old was she? Miss, we went too high.
M2. Qantas announced that, in 2025, it will begin flights from Sydney that will be as many as 20 hours in length, becoming the longest non-stop passenger flights. Name either of the destination cities for these planned flights. Made right guess here.
M3. The WNBA announced that what player will be honored with a floor decal on all home courts for the 2022 season? Ugh. WNBA. Who actually knows these answers besides the content writers? Miss for us.
M4. What host of The Late Late Show announced that he would be leaving the show in 2023? Missed this too. Two stinkin’ point for this mystery round!
Round Two

Beauty and the Beast
We got four points out of this mystery round…ugh.
Final – Book Characters
There are seven characters who are mentioned by name at least 23 times in both The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, including Gollum/Sméagol.
Name three of the other six characters, none of whom are Sauron.
This was ALL Mike. He named five correct characters (though we only put in the number of characters they asked for). We moved from last place to third.
As always, Go Pods, and stay classy, Denethor, son of Ecthelion (he was not one of the correct final answers)!
final answer – Bilbo Baggins
Thorin Oakenshield
Gandalf
Balin
Elrond Half-elven
