Trivia Recap – Game # 727 – October 26, 2022 – Virtual Sporcle “Pub Quiz” Format

Our poor luck continued on final questions in a recent virtual game – not because we got the question wrong – (we were actually one of only a couple of teams who got it correct) – but we didn’t wager correctly on it! Alas, when you’re in a relationship with your trivia pardner, sometimes you decide to leave the wagering decisions to your trivia pardner – and not be bothered with making them yourself! Especially when your trivia pardner is pissy about having blown six points on a question during the game!

But you’ll find out more about these super exciting things if you read on!

Note: I do not have the questions from the first round…the topics were animals, quotes, cereal and names. We had to name the class of animal that lives both on water and land and includes toads and salamanders; which color marshmallow was added to Lucky Charms in1989, and some question about a name from Game of Thrones (which we missed). Also a question about computer quotes from the 1940s, had to name the company. And that’s the best I can do!

Mystery Round: Peace

Put the following Nobel Peace Prize winners in order in which they won the award from the earliest to most recently.

Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King, Jr; Elie Wiesel, Woodrow Wilson

Got these all correct.

Round Two –

5. (Horror) In addition to “the” and “purge,” name one of the other five words found in the titles of films in The Purge horror film franchise.

NERD POINT: Name two of five. Miss…

6. (Entertainment) Debuting in 1993 at the Treasure Island Hotel and Casino, Mystère  is the longest-running show by what entertainment company?

We thought of the correct answer after we put in our wrong one…miss for 6.

7. (Space History) In 2003, what country became only the third, after the U.S. and Russia/Soviet Union, to independently launch one of its own citizens into space?

8. (TV Characters) What title character is played by Rachel Brosnahan on an Amazon Prime Video series that debuted in 2017?

Mystery Round Two – Visual

We missed #s 3 and 4.

We were in LAST going into the final with 38 points. And we decided not to make things worse for us by wagering full points on the final category of “album sales,” so we wagered zero.

Final Question: There are six bands or artists that have released an album since 1980 that has been certified at least 20-times platinum by the RIAA.

Name two of those six bands or artists, who released their albums in 1980, 1982, 1985, 1994, 1997, and 1998.

Had I known that release years of albums would have been part of the question I would have chosen to wager 15 points (my mind works in strange ways and remembers things like years quite well). So yes, we got the correct albums from 1982 and 1997 – moved up to second with our conservative wager. Hey – ’tis the season for weird magicks, right?

I’ll have another recap to post on Sunday, I have to get ready for work, so no time to do it today!

As always, Go Pods, and stay classy, Woodrow Wilson!
