(UPDATED) – A Look At Michigan Tech Winter Carnival T-Shirt Designs From 1997 To 2020

The annual “Winter Carnival” is going on at Michigan Technological University in Houghton, MI. What is it? Well, mainly snow sculptures! Students, usually working with some kind of pre-selected “theme,” build massive snow sculptures – which are judged. My brother –  whom attended Michigan Tech in the late 1980s/early 1990s – and later worked for the university – served as a judge for a time. There are also “broomball” games, and other events tied in to this cold-weather event.

I have only attended the Winter Carnival once in my life…and that was in 2009! The “theme” for that Winter Carnival was “space.”

Since the Winter Carnival always happens right around my birthday, my brother kind of made it his own “tradition” to buy me a Winter Carnival shirt every year for my birthday (though they always arrive a few days late). And I still have most of them! My sweatshirt from 1998 featured “Peanuts” characters on it  – and sadly wore out (I am a huge “Peanuts” fan). As for the shirts that survived?  Pictures or it didn’t happen? OK, but first…

Here are a couple of photos of me wearing Winter Carnival shirts:
