We finished in second place in a recent virtual trivia game and were very excited to get a dreaded “doctor/cop/lawyer” TV show question correct! We’ve made lots of jokes in the past about how terrible our team is in this category, and even jokingly put out a want ad for players whom are experts in this category to join our team. Read about that here: http://wordpress.com/post/hebontheweb.blog/8546
However, when it comes to doctor/cop/lawyer shows that were parodied on “Family Guy?” Yeah, we know about those!
1 FORMULAS – What stimulant, with the chemical formula C8H10N4O2 (C-8-H-10-N-4-O-2), occurs naturally in both the cocoa bean and coffee bean, among others?
2 WEAPONS – The TV characters Negan and Steve Harrington, from two different series, are both known for having wielded what specific type of weapon, modified from its original state? We didn’t recognize the names of either of these characters, though we did watch one of the series featuring one of these characters (we just didn’t know his name). So we incorrectly guessed sawed-off shotgun. Miss.
3 ACTORS – What actor’s highest-grossing films at the domestic box office are Batman Forever, Top Gun, and The Prince of Egypt?
4 BANS – In 2018, what Middle Eastern country ended its ban on women drivers and also ended its ban on movie theaters that had been in place since 1983? We were torn between two possibilities but picked the right one.
MYSTERY ROUND – Not the Capital – Name the Asian country based on the most populous non-national capital city in each country.
4. Ho Chi Minh City
Got all of these.
5 HOLIDAYS – What holiday with a six-letter name, which typically lasts five days, takes place during the Hindu month of Kartika, and is often referred to as the Hindu festival of lights?
6 COP TV: Life On The Street was the subtitle of what police drama series that aired on NBC from 1993-1999 which portrayed a fictional version of the Baltimore Police Department?
7 2000s MUSIC – The 2001 song “Last Nite” is the highest charting single on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart by what band?
8 HOCKEY – In 1997 and 1998, the Detroit Red Wings won the Stanley Cup Finals in a sweep (Four games to none). Name either Eastern Conference team that they defeated in those series.
NERD POINT: Name both.
We got one, but not both. Our guess of Blackhawks was incorrect.
Mystery Two –
Got all of these. #4 was a total guess.
We were in second going into the final with 47 points.
Final Category – Politicians
Who is the current holder of the position in government that was first held by Frederick Muhlenberg , and later by Henry Clay and Dennis Hastert, among others?
I knew what position of government this was, my better half knew who currently holds this position (I did too, but he knew it faster).
Stayed in second. We’ll take that!
As always, Go Pods, and stay classy, Bart Simpson!
