How Did My 2022 Oscar Predictions Compare to the Winners?

So how did my completely random Oscar picks measure up against the winners? I used a couple of dice to randomly “pick” 2022 Oscar winners, as I’ve done a few times before.

Turns out I picked three “winners” this time, including a very controversial one! My die rolls called for Will Smith to win best leading actor. As for what his new “role” in Hollywood will be after “Slapgate,” well, that remains to be scene! I’m not in support for what he did, but I can kind of understand why he did it – being that I’m a person who’s slapped people before. Sometimes your temper just gets the best of ya. And when you’re on an international stage – with maybe a couple of thousand TV viewers (Hell if I know how many people tune into these silly award shows these days), I would guess things kind of get amped up – and blown out of proportion.

Other “winners” I picked included Best Sound Editing (Dune) and Best Original Song (Encanto). I really, really did want Lin-Manuel Miranda to get his EGOT win by winning best original song for Encanto, but that was not to be. Was he punished for not being able to attend the ceremony in person (because his wife was COVID positive)? Who knows! But I guess for now I can hold off on updating my blog featuring a list of current EGOT winners.

As for the Will Smith incident, ugh…I want nothing more for it to blow over soon. And with that, I’ll let a Forrest Gump meme, featuring Oscar winner Tom Hanks, say the rest:

I used a 10 sided die to pick the best picture winner, and a six sided die for all other winners. In the cases of rolling 6, I rolled until I did not get a 6. Hey if you can think of a better way to pick Oscar winners, I’d like to hear it!

Winners will be denoted with an asterisk, and my picks will be in boldface (it’s my blog so there)!

The best D&D dice are purple! I have two sets of purple dice!
