After about a six month hiatus, the pub trivia scene is “supposed” to start up again at Sticks in Ypsilanti, MI tonight. It used to be a regular trivia spot for my team, and is one of the places that me and my team first started playing way, way back in 2012. The show time has changed – the game starts at 6 p.m. instead of 9 p.m.

I’m not planning on bringing a team out for this game, but I have let at least one person on my team know about it. My primary teammates – me, Mike and Brad – are not interested in doing in-person trivia indoors until things settle down significantly with the pandemic. Brad is immunocompromised, I was germphobic long before we had a pandemic, and Mike – well, he’s actually started enjoying the virtual games! About those…

I have signed up for a “virtual” game at 8 p.m. tonight. It’s been more than a week since I’ve played a trivia game, so it’s time to scratch that itch!

Other “sort of” local spots offering in-person trivia (Sporcle Live) are The Owl in Milan, Hermann’s Olde Town Grille in Plymouth, Ashley’s in Ann Arbor, Homes Brewery in Ann Arbor, The Crow’s Nest in Canton, the Grand Tavern in Livonia, and – I think – some brewery in Novi.

Bobcat Bonnie’s in Ypsilanti is supposed to start August 26.

One of my friends on Facebook posted about having won a $10/second place prize at Homes – and said that the money covered ONLY ONE BEER! Yes, that beer at Homes is a bit TOO pricey for me! I don’t care how good everyone says the beer is – for that amount of money, there better be a $5 bill taped to the bottom of my glass!

The My Trivia Live league has also started opening up some former trivia spots. Local spots that I know of offering MTL trivia include McShane’s Pub and Bobby McShanes. I haven’t really been keeping up with all of the MTL spots doing trivia, so here is a current list:
