Our “three amigos” visited Sticks Monday for its trivia night, and got a bit roughed up by the questions! Since it’s “Cephalopod Week” (yes, we’ve decided that we’re boycotting “Shark Week” and instead celebrating cephalopods this week instead), it actually makes a lot of sense! Who wants to watch a show where the protagonists never f— up? That would be an extremely boring sitcom, and even more boring episode featuring cephalopods! Why watch a successful cephalopod hunt for gift cards and points when you can instead watch them scratch their heads dumbly and blow big points on questions about weather disasters – and upcoming movies?
Cephalopod Week is actually celebrated in the last week of June, for inquiring minds. But really – why limit the celebration of cephalopods to just one week?
As for the game, we finished with 84 total points and one $10/second place prize in game one. And that was only because we wagered zero on a final question about 2000s music that all teams missed (all teams missed both finals at our bar Monday).
For those keeping score at home, this was our 50th trivia game we’ve played this year (not counting tournament/semifinal/finals games).

In the decade of the 2000s (2000-2009), seven artists or groups had a single album spend at least eight weeks at #1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Name two of those seven artists or groups.
We managed to get one of the correct artist/group.

4. ’70s Music – What 1979 song opens with the lyrics, “Ooh, my little pretty one, my pretty one/When you gonna give me some time?” Big nope for us, but seemed so obvious when answer was revealed. Final Category – Borders
According to the IBC, an international organization responsible for surveying and mapping the U.S.-Canada border, Alaska is the state with the longest border with Canada, at 1,538 miles. Name three of the four states that have the next-longest borders.
We managed to get two correct and one we’d discussed that was correct didn’t make it on the slip (darn committee thinking)! No teams got three correct states…
Did not catch the names of the game game winners.
Until next time, which will be Thursday. We’ll be doing Thursday games the next couple of weeks, and plan to visit a spot we haven’t visited in a while very, very soon! As always, Go Pods, and stay classy, Doug Fieger!
