What Are The Odds?

Anyone remember the movie about restaurant servers called Waiting? This movie is why I seldom complain about shitty service at a restaurant.

Two different visits nine months apart. Shitty service both times. Maybe my odds of getting struck by lightning or winning a lottery are better – should I stand outside in a thunderstorm and hope for the best after buying a lottery ticket? 🤔

I visited Oscars in Saline, MI un February and November 2026 for trivia nights.

On the February visit, we waited more than an hour to get second drinks – and only got them after asking another staff member to track down our server for us. When she finally brought our drinks, she slammed them angrily on the table. W…T…A…F! 😳

On our most recent visit in early November, things started off well enough. We sat in the bar area and were promptly served. We had to move to the dining room because for some strange reason, the trivia host set up her show so that no one in the bar area could hear what she said on the mic. It’s a small place so I honestly don’t know why she couldn’t make her show audible for all. But…that’s not the point.

Maybe we should have cashed out before moving, but we didn’t have time to do it before The game got underway. Any one of the servers working that dining room could have at least have acknowledged us and offered to serve us. Nope. I had to go to the bar to order our second drinks – and cashed out there as well. Transferring bar tabs is not rocket science.

My husband and I are not high maintenance or asshole customers. We also tip well when the service is warranted.

I’m not going to bother posting an official review online because I don’t want artificial ass kissing – and I know that it’s utterly pointless.

Judging from other Google reviews I read this morning, others have experienced poor service here too. I just had the bad luck of having that happen on two different visits several months apart.

I’m not gonna discourage people from visiting Oscars in Saline, MI. Chances are you may have better luck than I had!
