Me and my trivia team would like to express our sincere condolences and sadness about longtime dedicated trivia player Francis B’s recent death. We have learned that his sister from out of state was at his side when he passed. He was someone we saw and talked to at many local trivia games, particularly around Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti. To say he was dedicated to his pursuit of trivia is an understatement! Though he drove a bus by day for the Ann Arbor Transportation Authority, he preferred other modes of transport to get himself to local games, mainly his bike. It would not surprise us if he also used a jetpack or hot air balloon (JK), but yes, he definitely pedaled to games around town – and even to Saline, back in the days of Maplewood Lanes Friday night trivia scene. He loved to share stories and final trivia questions from previous nights that he played. He also shared his love of colorful pens with me at a McShane’s Pub Ypsilanti game about a year ago. I shall treasure the four-color Bic pen always as a memento of him! It has been strange not seeing him at recent trivia games, and it’s heartbreaking that there will be no more chances to chat with him – or be stumped to answer trivia questions that he so enjoyed sharing with others.

We shall miss you, Francis, be at peace – and never stop quizzing! 😢
