We’re getting into the last week of the current Sporcle Events season!
In the long, long ago (you know – before the pandemic), your trivia team had to be top dog in that final game to even have a chance to go to the “big dance” (aka a regional cash tournament).
It’s easier to get into the regional cash games these days, so what you’re really playing for is having a chance to be able to RSVP for the games on the first day out of three days to do it. Or if you like silly tokens of validation like I do…

Yes, I’ll own up to being a total dork! It won’t hurt my feelings if you call me one!
My team has been waging trivia battles in two different Sporcle Events trivia spots this past season.
Mondays we’ve been doing music quiz games at Arbor Brewing Company in Ypsilanti, MI. We dipped down to third place just last week after being in second for most of the season just because we had the audacity to miss one game š² š
Better than dropping down because of a shitty game, right?
Though I like the music quiz games quite a bit, they’re really more the “baby” of my trivia “partner in crime” Kim. We’ve been meeting for music trivia games for about 10 years now, our differing – and in a lot of cases, out completely opposite tastes in music – is a huge asset in our games!
Though I’m a decent music trivia “generalist,” she is better overall because she’s stronger in the more recent music questions.
Which brings me to our “second” trivia spot! I’m far stronger in the general knowledge Sporcle Events games, so me, my husband and our friend Brad have been playing Tuesdays at Red Rock Barbecue, also in Ypsi.
We started playing as a trio back in March, right around when things were just starting to thaw out after a particularly rough Michigan winter. It’s been fun getting the “old gang” back together again!
Red Rock is a great place for drinking. They do happy hour specials on beer – including NA beers, ciders and zero ABV hop waters – on game days.
But they’re top notch when it comes to cocktails, too!

Getting Brad out for a trivia game isn’t always easy.Ā He won’t drive to games, so we have to find a place he can walk or ride his bike to play. Hey, we all have our lines in the sand, don’t we?
We’ve won $120 in prizes at Red Rock so far this season. To be fair, it’s more because of light trivia competition than any awesomeness on our part!
Since playing on just one trivia league is never quite enough to satisfy my addiction, we also started playing My Trivia Live games Thursday nights recently. We took a brief hiatus, but will likely be playing more MTL games during the summer months. The bar we like to play is close to home, we like the host Stacy, and the prices are just right. Also it’s just competitive enough to make things interesting!
Ss for the upcoming Sporcle Globe Games, I’ve already lined up a foursome. I’m hoping to have a fifth player…

Just last night, Kim brought her family out for a music quiz game at a different Sporcle spot and won a $10 and $20 prize. Clearly she does not need my help š
That’s all that I have to report for now…
