Today is our 29th wedding anniversary.
We started the day off attending a memorial service with family at a rural cemetery in southeast MI.
An aunt and uncle of mine both died recently. 😢
We went to a brunch afterwards hosted by my cousin.
I was quite tempted by the drinks menu, but I was a good girl. They had an ESB beer (extra special bitter), reasonably priced cocktails and even a zombie cocktail! 😲 🍹
Honestly…you don’t see zombie cocktails on every cocktail menu!

“Tiki” cocktails kind of a throwback to the 50s, when there was a “tiki” craze for a while.
Made with three different rums – zombie cocktails are… no joke! Most places serving them impose a two drink maximum.
Alas, ordering a zombie cocktail at a memorial luncheon would not only be inappropriate, but maybe a bit tacky!
I did make them at home years ago when a friend came over to watch zombie movies. If you drink enough of these, you’ll turn into a zombie!

The beer garden at this place is entirely covered – always in the shade! Heat lamps are in the ceiling, and a gas fireplace is available for when temps take a dip.
I was pretty impressed with the beer garden! I didn’t take pics, because I wanted to not use my phone.
Once that and the luncheon afterward were over, my husband and I got some…red stuff 🤣
We started off with… strawberry shortcake at a local restaurant! Who says you can’t occasionally have dessert for dinner?

Next, we got some cocktails! He wanted a Pimm’s cup, I had fewer options since I’m not drinking alcohol, so I tried what they called a “Nogroni” (non alcoholic negroni). I was not disappointed! It was the best mocktail I’ve had…ever!

Now it’s starting to get buggy outside on my deck, so I’m a gonna wrap this up. Good night!
