Sorry, no answers for these questions (didn’t have my notes handy when I posted this).
When you say “Maybe Gimli (the dwarf from The Lord of the Rings) will show up in the nick of time to help” when a final question category is revealed during a trivia game? Maybe you’re not going to do so well on that final question!
Darn you, Gimli for making us fail on a final question about mining!
Other than that pesky final question, we didn’t do that badly! Read on to see some of the questions we actually got correct!
1 Racing – In the 1970s, three horses won the Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing in the United States. Name one of those three horses. Trivial pursuit knowledge stuff, easy peasy.
2 Technology – Within three, in what year did the iPhone first come included with the assistant Siri? I actually knew the correct year spot on, but my trivia pardner guessed one year later – we still got it within the parameters.
3 Physics – The force of an object can be calculated by multiplying what quantity by the object’s acceleration?
4 Flags – Name one of the two colors that are on the national flags of all seven Central American countries.
NERD POINT: Name both.
(Central America does not include Mexico.)
Good first round…got all of these.
For this mystery round, your team can give four answers and can put them in any order you choose. You will receive two points for each correct answer.
Other than sequel films, The Adventures of Pluto Nash, and Meet Dave, name four of the five movies in which Eddie Murphy plays multiple characters.
Unsure how we did on this one, but we didn’t get them all.
5 Country Music – The country music group Pistol Annies consists of Ashley Monroe, Angaleena) Presley, and what third woman who has had multiple #1 country hits as a solo artist? Never heard of this group, miss.
6 Awards – In 2004, Wangari Maathai became the first African woman to receive what prestigious award as an individual? She was honored for, among other things, her contribution to sustainable development and democracy. FB clue.
7 Slogans – What online retailer of furniture and other home products, founded in 2002, features the line “you’ve got just what I need” in its ads? This company comes up frequently in my online searches, though I have yet to purchase anything from them.
8 Game Shows – What game show, which aired on Nickelodeon from 1993–1995 and was revived for adult contestants for one season on The CW, features a talking stone head named Olmec, who serves as a co-host? Miss, though my husband was on the right track.
Combine the two clues to form a single answer.
Answers may share a word, part of a word, or a syllable.
(For example, if I said, “Fourteenth U.S. president AND actor who starred in the 1997 volcano disaster film Dante’s Peak,” you would answer, “Franklin Pierce Brosnan.”)
1. President who served between the two terms of Grover Cleveland AND 1968 single by Dusty Springfield about “the only one who could ever reach me”
2. Pro-slavery and states’ rights president who served from 1841–1845 AND filmmaker, actor, and playwright who is the creator of the character Madea
3. President whose middle initial doesn’t stand for any name in particular AND English city home to soccer clubs nicknamed the “Red Devils” and the “Sky Blues”
4. President born in Honolulu AND TV personality who has hosted Extra and who created AfterBuzz TV
Got all of these.
Final Category – Mining
In 2021, which two states combined to produce 98% of all iron ore mined in the U.S.?
The correct states came up in our brainstorming, but didn’t make it on the answer system, Miss.
As always, Go Pods, and stay classy, John Tyler!
