Trivia Recap – Game # 734 – November 29, 2022 – Virtual Sporcle “Pub Quiz” Format

Sometimes you get just the right mix of trivia questions to do well in a trivia game against other teams! And sometimes you just happen to ace an entire visual round about snack crackers! Mmm, who doesn’t love snack crackers? I’m still working through a warehouse pack of Cheez-Its we got at Costco about a month ago. But sometimes you want a cracker that’s just a little “special” – like the ones your aunt would always serve at baby showers, bridal showers and other family parties in her home – along with her “never fail” punch with big blobs of sherbet in it (I’m getting diabetes just thinking of that cold sweet stuff)!

The crackers I’m talking about are the “Chicken in a Biskit” crackers (yes I’m revealing one of the answers). They were like if that salty ramen noodle seasoning was baked into a club cracker – so, so good with a nice fatty sour cream laden dip!

Now that I’ve made y’all hungry (or thirsty for my aunt’s “Never Fail” punch), you’re probably also hungry for some trivia questions. Otherwise why would you be reading this nonsense?

Ask and ye shall receive…

Round One –

1 Mythology – The name for Thursday is derived from the name of what figure in Norse mythology?

2 TV The NFL Sunday Ticket package is widely available in the United States through what subsidiary of AT&T? FB host clue, easy peasy.

3 Names – What rapper was born Lesane Crooks in 1971, before being renamed by his mother after an 18th-century Peruvian revolutionary? We’ve had this question before and thankfully we remembered the answer.

4 Arcade Games What 1982 arcade game requires players to beat four sub-games at increasingly difficult levels?

Those four subgames are I/O Tower, MCP Cone, Battle Tanks, and Light Cycles

My husband, whom considered the arcade his second home as a kid, stayed away from this game. He said it was too hard!

Mystery One – Visual

Round Two –

5 Movie Casts – Whitney Houston, Angela Bassett, Loretta Devine, and Lela Rochon play four friends each looking for love in what 1995 film?
NERD POINT: The film is based on a novel of the same name by what author?

I may have zero desire to see a movie like this, but I still remembered it…did not remember the author, though.

6 Audio – We heard a clip of a song by the singer/songwriter who won Best New Artist in 1981 and also an Academy Award for Best Original Song (also in 1981) for “Arthur’s Theme.” We had to name either the song – or the artist. Sadly, this singer did not survive well in the appearance-obsessed MTV world… Though he was quite the adult contemporary superstar for a minute!

7 Tennis – Name one of the two American men’s tennis players who were at one point ranked #2 in the world by the ATP, but NEVER reached #1. One reached #2 in 1976 and the other reached #2 in 1996.

8 Islands – Saint Helena, South Georgia, and Gough Island are all located in which ocean?

Give the first and last names of the people described by the following clues, all of whom have the initials I.S.

1. Actor known for playing Boone on Lost and Damon Salvatore on The Vampire Diaries

2. Comedian who has released Netflix specials titled Elder Millennial and Unveiled

3. NBA shooting guard who won a championship with the Cavaliers in 2016 and a season of Dancing with the Stars in 2021

4. Russian composer known for the ballet The Firebird

Why were none of the answers Izzy Stradlin? You know – the rhythm guitarist for Guns ‘n Roses? Inquiring minds…. We missed #2 and #3.

We were in first going into the final with 47 points.

Final Category – Periodic Table

There are four elements on the periodic table with English names that are at least seven letters long AND that share no letters in common with their chemical symbols.

Name three of those four elements.

This wasn’t too difficult for us, we held onto our lead

Have you figured out the singer/songwriter answer yet? If not, look at the comments.

As always, Go Pods, and stay classy, Igor Stravinsky!
