It just figured that we had a final question about “The Simpsons” that we decided not to wager any points on! Does this mean we knew the answer to it? No! Of course not! That would make too much sense, and that’s not something our trivia “team,” such as it is, is any good at!
All of that said, us wagering conservatively moved us up a place after the final question.
Otherwise, nothing else really notable about this game, except who knew that a certain modern actor had this many Oscars? We didn’t! Read on to learn more…
Here were our questions:
Round One –
1 Video Games – In most games in the Super Mario franchise, the 1-up, or extra life, mushrooms are primarily white and what other color?
2 Food – Containing eggs, bacon, and cream, Lorraine is a popular version of what French tart? Wasn’t there a book that said real men didn’t eat this?
3 Fables – The expression “sour grapes” originates from a fable by Aesop in which what animal is unsuccessful in obtaining grapes? Good job Mike remembering this nugget ‘o trivia…
4 World Leaders – From 2001-2010, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo served as the president of what Asian nation, becoming the second woman to do so? Thanks for the almighty FB host clue!

5 World Cities – Hillbrow, Parktown, and Braamfontein are neighborhoods in what city that is the most populous in South Africa?
6 Measures – What does either the letter “B” or the letter “T” stand for in BTU, the abbreviation for a unit of heat?
NERD POINT: What do both letters stand for?
7 Celebrities – In May 2021, what actress announced that she is married to filmmaker Jeff Baena, who wrote and directed the films Life After Beth and The Little Hours, in which she stars? Thanks for an alternative FB host clue (it pays to check ’em all)!
8 This was an audio clue. I’ll do my best to make it a “words” question (ahem): What word completes the title of a 1990 dance song that hit #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 – “Groove is in the (blank)?” And I had no idea this song sampled a Herbie Hancock riff! I like learning things in trivia games!
Mystery Two
We were in sixth going into the final with 45 points. We wagered zero on the category of “TV Episodes.”
Final Question –
The first season of The Simpsons consists of 13 episodes.
Other than Homer and Bart, name one of the two characters on The Simpsons whose names appear in the title of one of those episodes.
I thought of one of the right answers after we put in our answer. Yeah, sometimes that happens in trivia games!
We’ll be back at it tonight. As always, Go Pods, and stay classy, Aubrey Plaza!
