OH THE TRIVIA AMATEUR MISTAKE! I mean…get out – not knowing the difference between a 20th Century president and a 21st Century president? As of this point, we are officially retired from playing any more trivia games. This is really it, people! We are DONE!
Yeah, I know it’s a little late for April Fool’s jokes! Yes, I’m totally kidding about that.
A final question about presidents sunk us in a recent virtual trivia game. Back when we used to play trivia games in actual bars and restaurants, we might’ve been really, really upset about a blunder such as this! And if we made a blunder like this in say…a money tournament game? That could result in moping, stewing, griping, turning to drink and cursing the name of whatever president was the main source of your error – whether it be Chester Arthur (sorry I just HAD to put his name here – if you know, you know…), James Knox Polk or in the case of our recent game…Dubya. We forgot that he wasn’t a 20th Century president. Curse him!
Clearly we’ve gotten a bit too relaxed in our trivial pursuits since the Plague struck this swirly blue marble. Playing just to pass the time and be entertained for an hour or so rather than playing for the precious gift card money has changed our perspective.
Here were our questions from this game:
Round One
1 Founders Who is the founder of KKW Beauty, KKW Fragrance, and the shapewear company Skims? The initials were a clue here, got this but not confident.
2 1990s Movies In a 1996 film, Robin Williams plays the owner of a Miami-area drag club known by what name?
3 Animals The genus Panthera comprises five living species, including lions, leopards, and snow leopards. Name one of the other two species.
NERD POINT: Name both.
We got one correct kitty, not both. Not to give away one of the answer, go to Google images and look up “black jaguar.” They are wicked cool!
What, you don’t want to search for that? Oh ALL RIGHT, I’ll make it easy for you!
4 Grains What cereal grain is used to make a common deli bread, as well as a whiskey originally made in Templeton, Iowa? Bye, bye Miss American pie…drove my Chevy to the levy but the levy was dry…the good old boys were drinking whiskey and (blank).
Mystery Round One
Missed #3, as did a lot of other teams.
Round Two
5 NFL Teams In what decade did the Dallas Cowboys, Minnesota Vikings, and Atlanta Falcons play their first NFL games? Surprisingly we made the correct guess.
6 TV Characters The longest-running LGBT character in U.S. television history is Callie Torres, who appears on 239 episodes of what medical drama? FB host clue, thanks for that!
7 Cars What Dodge vehicle model that was primarily produced in the 1960s and 1970s shares its name with a type of small, pointed projectile? Mike said this was one of his family cars back in the ’70s.
8 Math What branch of mathematics with a ten-letter name is concerned with the collection and interpretation of data? We’re usually hit or miss on math questions, but this one was a hit.
Mystery Round Two
Missed #s 2 and 3.
Final 20th-Century Presidents Eight U.S. presidents who served during the 20th century had previously served as governor of a state.
Name four of the seven states that had a 20th-century U.S. president serve as governor.
(Note: One state had two governors go on to become president).
Since I didn’t bury the lede in this story, y’all know how this played out, don’t you? We got three correct states.
The trivia games will continue despite how much we may f— up answering the final questions correctly. Especially lately, ugh!
As always, Go Pods, and stay classy, Woodrow Wilson! We should have started with the beginning and moved forward with this final question instead of the other way around!
