I’m chillin’ with the lights dimmed in my basement. It’s finished, it’s not too “dank,” there are lots of fun posters and pictures on the wall, a mini fridge that isn’t plugged in, a cooler full of chilled seltzer waters and a partial bag of ice. A big bottle of vodka is sitting by my feet. I’m enjoying a drink made of just orange vanilla seltzer water (the Polar brand – it tastes just like a creamsicle) and Gordon’s vodka over ice. My soundtrack is “Big Log” by Robert Plant – when he was doing a solo career in the 1980s. It’s a song I “wish” could be the opening song of a movie about my life, though in reality, “Once in a Lifetime” by the Talking Heads would probably be more appropriate.
Here’s a snippet of “Big Log” lyrics:
My love is miles in awaiting The eyes that just stare and the glance at the clock In the secret that burns and the pain that won’t stop And it’s fueled with the years
I heard just a snippet of this when I was at Original Gravity Brewing Co. Wednesday evening enjoying the wonderful spring weather. But I was too far from the speaker to really hear it – all I could hear was the unmistakeable riffs. There is no turning back…no (sorry now I’m quoting the song)!
So what’s going on? Not much, a cabin/camping trip is coming soon, I’ll officially be fully vaxxed (two weeks from second shot), my wedding anniversary is in just a few days…
And I’m starting to think if going to trivia games in pubs might actually happen again. I have no answer for that yet, but it’s a “definitely maybe.”
More about this developing story at a later time. I will need to log into the game in a bit so I can see Michelle – my longtime friend from Vegas, baby!
