It has come time for me to take a bite out of a “truth sandwich.” More specifically, a truth gingerbread cookie (more about that in a bit). Ahem… I have come to the realization that I actually like all of the different spices/additives that comprise “pumpkin spice.” Which include cinnamon, ginger, allspice, nutmeg and cloves. And sometimes brown sugar/molasses. Call me a “spice girl,” if you will. I’ll be “Bitchy Spice” or “Ornery Spice!” But I don’t like pumpkin itself – I won’t eat pumpkin pie, pumpkin cake, pumpkin bread, etc. I like these spices in the various yummy baked goods my mom has made over the years (her gingerbread cookies and her spice cake is fantastic). Yet I’d never go to Tim Horton’s or Starbucks for a pumpkin spice latte (I like my coffee bitter and black like my soul, lol). I also will not drink spiced rum (one of about three different boozes that have restraining orders against me drinking them). Maybe I will have to try some of the “spicy” beers that come out this time of year – if I can be assured that there is absolutely NO pumpkin in them!
