A couple of weeks ago, I went on a “cleaning frenzy,” and cleaned up the lower level of the house since a friend was stopping by. And during that “cleaning frenzy,” something in me…snapped. I decided I was going to go toe-to-toe with my inner slob – and kick her lazy mother f—ing ass!
My “goal” was for it never to take me more than a half hour tops to get the lower level of the house in “presentable” condition, should a person happen to drop by (with advanced notice, of course)!
So what does all of this entail?
- Keeping counter tops as clutter-free as possible. Get something out, put it away when you’re done.
- Not letting dirty dishes pile up too much.
- Vacuuming once a week. I recently bought a cordless “mini vacuum” which is good for detail cleaning (kind of like using a toothbrush to clean the crevices in your bathroom…no, not THOSE crevices!)
- Reclaiming the kitchen “peninsula” as a dining surface. Which means NOT piling junk mail on it, not setting car keys on it, etc.
Let’s see if we can go a whole MONTH without the place looking trashed again!
