We stopped in at a CVS today looking for cough syrup. Not fancy, no name brand, just the active ingredient (guaifenesin) I wanted. I didn’t even care if it was flavored or not. Cheapest was $12, so…nope!
After visiting an Aldi store for a grocery run, we found a “dollar store” and searched for cheaper cough remedies. We got two small bags of cough lozenges and two bottles of cough syrup for $4 plus sales tax. I will remember this next time time I get an upper respiratory…thing.
Bonus, my eagle-eyed husband noticed a bag of herbal cough drops had horehound in them. He knew I wanted horehound drops. Menthol is the only active ingredient listed, so horehound is just a “bonus” ingredient. I read about its benefits in an herbal remedy book years ago, and I can say it…works! It helps break up stubborn coughs, which I learned years ago while sucking on real horehound hard candy.
