Trivia ‘Itis? Me? (Blows Raspberry)… August 23, 2019

One of my trivia “comrades” likes to periodically joke about a fake yet totally real affliction called “Trivia ‘Itis.” It’s just referred to as “The ‘Itis” when speaking about trivia addiction. A person “afflicted” with this might have an unhealthy addiction to pub trivia.

When I told him yesterday that I was going to to a music trivia game then hooking up with my team at their trivia game later? He said…

Got the ‘Itis again, eh?

My response:

When did I ever get cured of it?

Truth be told, I usually only play about twice a week. Only one week this season did we only go out for one trivia game during a week.  I’ve played many more times a week in past years!

I know players who are out almost every night of the week. If I  even attempted to do this my husband would threaten me with divorce! Perhaps this behavior has actually led to divorce (I can only speculate)! My husband and I have certainly had enough fights about trivia (we recently put a stop to games at Original Gravity because he hates the place because the beer is too pricey). He also refuses to play on consecutive nights. Fair enough!

I don’t feel like a dog on a leash  – I’m not a “kept woman!” I’m happy with the “twice a week” (occasionally more) plan. What I’m most happy about is having a spot I can get my “Three Amigos” to each week (Mondays at Sticks). I’m also happy to be able to wage battle with Evan/Mike on Wednesday and/or Thursdays. No drama, no contention, no bickering…gotta love it while it lasts!

A couple of other things…I heard that there will be My Trivia Live games going on for eight hours in one of the YpsiFest tents this weekend beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday. If my husband and I are in the area anyway, I might check it out! I remember playing in one of the “festival” MTL games a couple of years ago at the Canton Liberty Fest (the questions were really, really dumbed down).

I’ve also contacted a local MTL host, letting her know about the Bobcat Bonnie’s development (they are coming to Ypsilanti this fall and might even open as early as October). I said that MTL should go “a courting” this as a spot. I’m sure Sporcle will try “serenading” them, too!

On a personal note, I would LOVE if MTL got the gig, since we already have a local Sporcle spot we’re pretty happy with – and Brad (who doesn’t drive to games) can ride his bike here. MTL getting the gig still doesn’t necessarily mean that I would try going “all in” for a MTL tournament bid, but it would be nice to have another “local” option on Wednesday nights. When weather starts getting “icky,” we’re not going to be driving to games at The Owl in Milan! Milan is strictly a “fair weather trivia spot” for the time being!

I’ll be helping serve food at an “Italian Dinner” at the YpsiFest tonight. I am delighted with this absolutely gorgeous weather!
