I’ve speculated that the “brain” behind the touch screen dashboard in my car has a mind of her own (my car’s “name” is Sylvia). She “thinks” songs by the Eagles are actually Bangles songs. If you’re thinking of what it would be like to hear Susannah Hoffs from the Bangles sing Desperado, I’m right there with you, baby (I think she would nail it)! Sylvia also thinks the song Foreigner Suite by Cat Stevens is a Foreigner song, and “thinks” a couple of my Neil Diamond tracks are Diamond Rio tracks. She even thinks a handful of my nine inch nails songs are Yes songs (I’ve tried putting the USB in my computer and fixing all of these things but to no avail). For the record, I don’t have any Yes, Diamond Rio or Foreigner tracks on my USB even if Sylvia thinks I do! I’d be hard pressed to even name a song by Diamond Rio! Though I do have a Bangles track (Eternal Flame, need to download Hazy Shade of Winter).
Today, “Sylvia” kind of pulled a fast one! Though she had been previously playing a Seal CD that was in the CD player, after we’d stopped the car and visited a local produce stand, she decided to randomly pick a song that was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT for a lovely summer’s day. And that song was…Summertime Rolls by Jane’s Addiction. The 1988 album, with a controversial cover – peaked at #103 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 album charts and is ranked #312 on Rolling Stone’s list of 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
