I don’t know if this has anything to do with why long-eared creatures known as “rabbits” are also sometimes called “bunnies,” but…

There is a genus of rabbit called:

  • Bunolagus monticularis (Riverine rabbit).

It’s actually very endangered, and lives in Africa.

This article goes into more detail about why bunnies are called “bunnies.” But I still think that “bunolagus” is kind of an interesting find! Bunolagus – bunny? Coincidence?
