Don’t Have A Heb? Buy One In A Store! Also, a “Heb” Origin Story…

One of my friends on Facebook shared this photo with me. H.E.B. is a chain of grocery stores in Texas. Sorry, you can’t actually buy a Heb! But if you find one in the wild you’re lucky (LOL)!

Now how about I explain how I got the nickname “Heb?” “Heb” is a moniker I use as a screen name in some social media platforms, and is used by my closest circle of friends (husband, Dave, Michelle, and Macie all address me as “Heb” instead of my birth name Heather). Mike and Dave also frequently call me “Hebly.” If my husband ever calls me “Heather” instead of “Heb,” “Heblarum,” “Heblinga” or “Hebly,” then I KNOW that I’m in trouble! I rarely call him by his “given” name, either – but this blog is about my nickname, not his!

It all started in junior high, when I made some kind of off-hand comment about it being nearly impossible to make a nickname out of the name Heather. Well, one of my friends must’ve said “game on,” and so “Hebbles” was born. Then another friend shortened it to “Heb,” and the rest, as they say, is history!
