In the beginning of our trivial pursuits in 2012, we were “one trivia spot once a week” trivia team, which was the Corner Brewery. It didn’t take long before we started to see lots of other trivia spots on the side! Sticks, Red Rock, B-dubs, and even lots of “out of town” trivia spots. What can I say? We like to spread the love around!

We continued our weekly “dates” with the Corner Brewery for more than three years, but decided we needed to go out to see other trivia spots. We kind of  “played the field” for a bit, seeing trivia spots such as The Heidelberg, the YpsiAlehouse, and even had a few spring/summer “flings” with Original Gravity (which we still go see from time to time). We “settled down” for a bit with the Wurst Bar, starting in the spring of 2016 through the end of 2017. Then we started “seeing” Powell’s Pub for a while, then broke up with them for a few months. Tower Inn started to look like a potential long-term trivia spot, but it turns out the trivia spot was just not that into us (they were more into younger people drawn to late night trivia shows than us old fogeys).

So we went out and played the field again! Sticks, Original Gravity, Haymaker, even a couple of games with our “first love” the Corner Brewery – and also started seeing Powell’s and McShane’s a bit. Johnny’s Grill scared us off a bit with the Hamilton themed categories (probably enough to make us never see them again). We even had a couple of date nights with Oscar’s!

The Monday trivia nights at Sticks just might become a new spot for us (on weeks where Mondays work well for trivial pursuits). The host is decent, his music selections are decent, the bar staff is on the ball…

It’s been very, very tough for us to commit to trivia spots lately! We’ve been trying to not burn ourselves out on trivia, get to bed at decent hours and not operate on three hours of sleep, and can’t summon a “team” every night of the week (not even on the same nights every week).  But there could be love brewing with Monday night trivia at Sticks!

We’re not done seeing trivia spots this week…Original Gravity is on the menu for Thursday, depending upon whether Dave can play or not. If he can’t play, we might play at Sticks again.  Or we might play at OG anyway – especially if weather is nice enough to take a pre-game walk around Milan, plus the earlier start time gives it a leg up over Sticks.

Yes, it’s been crazy trying to nail down the ‘Pods (have you ever tried pinning down an octopus?) – but I’m absolutely loving the freedom and flexibility of all of this trivia “swinging!”
