Our trivia “night” this week will again be Thursday, location TBD (will either be Sticks in Ypsilanti or Original Gravity). I’m going to talk to Dave to see which spot he prefers, since he has not been out to a trivia game in a few weeks. My new “mission” for trivia is to make each game as “winnable” as possible! This means bringing three players minimum to most trivia spots, and 4-6 players (and up) at other more competitive spots (such as the Corner Brewery, where 10-12 person teams are not at all unusual). We are not in tournament contention this season in any trivia leagues, so “win beer money” is our new mantra! Hey…it’s good to have goals, isn’t it? My teammates actually like this laid back “nothing on the line except beer money” plan!
I’m sure the “solo” games will still happen from time to time, too! But for the most part, I’m going to stick to one spot a week – where I can summon enough players to make it worth our while.
On most weeks, while I continue to have Fridays off at work, our trivia nights will be Thursdays. Next week I’ll be doing things a bit differently! Wednesday, Feb. 13, is when I plan to do a “‘Pods Night” at Corner Brewery, and bring in “reinforcements.” I want to do those games roughly once a month (if the players can be summoned). I’m looking at doing these Corner games around the middle of each month. A “special” game is planned for next Monday, Feb. 11 and I’ve invited just three other teammates out for this game.
Last week, one of my teammates, Brad, suggested that we play at Powell’s again. My answer? “I’ll have to think about that.” Though I do NOT want to try using Powell’s as a tournament qualifying spot again, I will not rule out occasional (not every week) games when weather starts to really warm up. What really shocked me about Brad’s suggestion was the fact that he himself told me several months ago that he didn’t want to play Mondays at Powell’s anymore! He claims he didn’t say it (but I have witnesses). Kooky guy. I think he honestly doesn’t remember. BUT I DO! Just like Pepperidge Farm remembers (LOL)!

As of right now? Playing at Powell’s again is a big fat “maybe.” Only because we did have a tendency to win beer money there!
That is about it for this little trivia “update!” Maybe I’ll see YOU in the next trivia battle! If not, then just read all about it here! I will be watching the standings at Original Gravity Brewing Co., which has become one of my favorite trivia spots over the past few years. It appears that the team Mind the Gap is closing in on the number one spot – despite having played one less game than the #1 team This is Sparta. We’ve won tournament spots twice here in the past couple of years, so this place will always have a special place in my heart! That, and I have been playing there on and off since the bar started offering trivia in 2016. Godspeed, to you wily OG teams! I will try to do battle with you as much as possible 🙂
