Delayed Reaction From OG Game Thursday…

I played in a trivia game Thursday night that would send the winner of the game to a regional tournament. It was a semifinal – or “venue tournament” game, if you will.

There was one thing that happened that night (well, a couple of things really) that impressed me. And genuinely warmed my heart. When the winner was announced, there was a player on a rival team who clapped/cheered for the winner. Which really surprised me. I have never seen that player do such a thing before. I almost want to ask: “Was that really you? ” Or should I say, “Who are you and what have you done with (blank)?” No sarcasm intended here…it was really a good thing to see!

Two, that same player did not seem grumpy at all about losing to this team and not winning any prize money. Keep in mind this is a player who has stormed off when games have not gone his way in the past. And I’m no stranger to storming off when games don’t go my way. I’ve been working on making this behavior a thing of the past. I’m trying this whole George Bush “kinder, gentler…”  thing. Yes, that’s me (hopefully)!

I  really could NOT be happier about this turn of events! Both of these events!  I am a very proud person right now. The team that won this trivia game truly deserved to win on more levels than I can even list right now. They not only knew a good deal of the answers (especially in the first game), but they lost a player on their team last month. To clarify, they had a player DIE! I was heartbroken about this in ways you can’t imagine. but it must’ve been so much worse for her teammates (not to mention her husband).

Again…I’m  very happy  with  this turn  of  events! I just wish  I could tell him without it sounding… completely awkward. That and, I don’t think he wants me talking to him anymore.  Sigh…that’s always been my problem! Foot in mouth! Explains why I’ve always liked writing!
