I don’t know if any of you blog readers are creatures of habit or not. You probably are. I know I am! That’s why I feel compelled to announce that I’m (ahem) not playing any trivia games tonight. In fact, I’m going to try going the entire week without playing any trivia games! Except a “name that tune” night on Tuesday. Which doesn’t really count as trivia. Nope…name that tune doesn’t count as trivia (holds hands to ears, yells la la la la la)! Yes, I’m being a bit silly!
So what am I going to do instead of trivia games this week? Well, I could pretend I know the good topics to “study” for that trivia tournament on Sunday! I was thinking of giving a list of Shakespeare plays a look, since that category always seems to make us want to stab ourselves with daggers. High-grossing movies and animated movies always seem to be ripe topics. Review the “study topic” blogs I have on here. Take a few Sporcle quizzes. I don’t give two shits about Billboard stuff, I’m going to hope Evan will hit the current music questions out of the park. If not, we’ll just wager low.
What else? I may also be able to catch Jeopardy while it’s being broadcasted! It’s weird…one random night my husband and I stayed home for the evening we watched Jeopardy! and there was a category ALL about octopuses! Which we of course aced. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we had a really, really tough question about octopuses in the trivia tournament? Hey…”You may say I’m a dreamer…but I’m not the only one.” OK, here I go…what is the name for the specialized cephalopod arm containing spermatophores – which is used to transfer sperm to the female (aka the balls/shaft arm)? Yeah, likely story! Having that question in a trivia tournament! For one, it’s FAR too sexy. And two, we just couldn’t be that lucky! Speaking of getting lucky, let’s say you’re getting cozy with a male octopus at the movie theater, and he says to you:
Robert DeNiro in Cape Fear. He was nominated for best leading actor for this 1991 remake, but did not win. See? My blog has a purpose! I just totally looked up that fact on my own blog! Woot!
I’ll presume y’all have looked up that answer by now, so I’ll move on! Anyway…after all of the craziness of last week, I feel I can FINALLY breathe a sigh of relief! I managed to qualify my team on our first try last Thursday, which felt really, really weird! It was so strange not having to go out to the Saturday game for our “second chance.” I actually wanted to go to this game! But my husband overruled me (he was right to do it). I would not have been able to summon a real team for this game had I needed to do it. Brad was at the beer festival all day, and was too drunk. I would have had just three players at the most.
One of the rival teams I’ve known forever didn’t qualify in their game last Tuesday, and I just found out that (at least) one of those players will be joining forces with another league team at the tournament. This is the kind of thing that never fails to give me the “warm fuzzies!” Teams/players helping each other out in their times of need (I told myself I wasn’t going to cry)! It’s too bad their whole team can’t be there, but hey…better luck next time?
In other news, it looks as though I will have four players from my own team at the next tournament! Our only “loaner” player will be Evan. I know, I know. I don’t believe it either! The last time we had this many people from my own team in a tournament was 2015! And before that – 2013. I have a good feeling about playing the tournament in this place. One, it’s only about 20 minutes from my house. And two, the last time we played there, we won some money! Photos or it didn’t happen? Here ya go!
Mike, Alex, Dave, me and Brad. They all told me to not look at the camera but I didn’t listen!
Looking ahead to next month, there will be (hopefully) two more trivia tournaments for us to slay! Semifinals, and if we qualify, then onward finals ho!
That’s about it for now. Thanks, as always, for reading and perhaps I’ll see YOU in the funny pages! I mean…at the trivia tournament!
