“Just the two of us” hit up the weekly Sporcle Events trivia scene at Red Rock Barbecue Tuesday.
It’s all part of our “Trivia Tour of Ypsi,” where we pick a trivia spot we haven’t regularly played, and make a single season bid at that place.
When you’ve played trivia games as long as we have, it’s good to play at different spots from time to time to prevent boredom. And see different players!
When this season is done, we’ll start revisiting old trivia haunts like McShane’s, and maybe even OG if the weather is nice enough!
And of course continue to visit Red Rock for trivia occasionally too π
Corner on Wednesdays is … probably…out of the question unless I can hustle enough playas! We wouldn’t want to not have enough warm bodies to fill up their large tables!
Doing things to prevent boredom is kind of like our cephalopod mascots, who also have puzzles and toys to play with while they are in captivity.
Or, if you’re that naughty baby octopus that was recently in the news, you start munching on other creatures in a nearby tank! π π π
I don’t think we’re gonna start resorting to cannibalism anytime soon π€
Or WILL we? π
On our way to the game, Mike dropped me off at the corner, and he parked and walked in. Wouldn’t you know that he witnessed a beating right in the middle of Washington Street! He told the bartenders about this, one of them went to investigate, and eventually called the police.
It was one guy getting pummeled by a group of other guys.
Pure Ypsi? π€
As for the game, we won two “bridesmaid” aka second place/$10 prizes. We are currently in fourth place in the overall standings, though we’re only a few Globe Points away from third place.
Red Rock is a fairly new trivia spot, offering trivia nights since December, 2025. Though it did offer Sporcle trivia nights back in the 2010s (which we occasionally played).
We got a late start to the season here, mainly because we wanted to wait until weather warmed up after this past brutal winter π₯ΆβοΈ
Here were our questions:

Unsure if his was a nerd point question where we were given chance to name both. There are so many nerd point questions in games now π²

Mystery Round Two
This was audio…not recreating it (sorry not sorry)!
We were tied for first going into the final with 44 points with Dangerous Nights, 212 was in second with 40, Jill Scott’s Tots was in third with 32, Trixie Mattel was in fourth with 25.
Final Question Category Game One:
Political Appointments
Who is the only US president in the 20th century to never appoint a justice to the Supreme Court? He still had a significant impact on the federal judiciary, appointing an average of 66 federal judges per year during his term.
We missed, finished second, Dangerous Nights got first.
Round Three/Game Two

Mystery Round Three
No AI Allowed

16 Miniseries – What Spanish actor is to play Max Cady in the upcoming Apple TV series adaptation of Cape Fear?
NERD POINT: What actor played Cady in the 1991 adaptation of the film?
Extra nerd point from me: Who played the OG Max Cady in the black-and-white original film?
Another extra nerd point from me: Who played the Max Cady-ish role in the Cape Feare episode of The Simpsons?
I made lucky guess on this actor here. Almost went with another Latin American actor who’s huge right now, but I remembered he wasn’t actually Spanish. I had no idea that they were turning this into a miniseries. Isn’t this like butter over too much bread? It was just fine as a movie. Two movies at that. But what do I know?
Mystery Round Four
This was visual, had to ID sportsball players who wore #5 jerseys in their careers. I’ve recreated it as best that I could. Have fun. We got ZERO of these correct. π

I didn’t get the standings leading into the game two final. I was settling our tab. I just remember that we were in second with 36 and Dangerous Nights were in first with 46.
Final question Game Two
Category – Big Concerts
Two of the songs performed at the 1985 Live Aid benefit concerts were Wouldn’t It Be Nice by the Beach Boys and Wouldn’t it Be Good by Nik Kershaw, one of two pairs of songs with four-word titles that differ by just one word. Name one of the other two four-word titles that differ by just one word.
No teams got this. Zero bets like ours prevailed.
Dangerous Nights got their second first place prize of the night (thanks for not temporarily deafening me with your celebrations again, lol π)!
This concludes our trivial pursuits for the week. We’ll be back in the music quiz saddle next Monday.
As always, Go Pods, and stay classy, Ted Kennedy!
