Now that a quarter of the fiscal year 2026 is fin as a snooty independent filmmaker and maybe a French person would say…

Why not take a look at how my trivia team has been doing in our trivial pursuits so far in 2026?
If I had two words to use to describe it, they would be:
“Not terrible.”
Of course, we could always use a little improvement! We could definitely dress better, shower more often, spend more time studying mind bogglingly dull trivia topics like Emmy and Grammy Awards (oh the humanity, can we NOT)?
Overall though, we’re not embarrassing ourselves! Not every week, anyway.
Let’s take a look at some stats:
Total number of games played: 27
Trivia Leagues Played: Sporcle Events, My Trivia Live
Total amount of trivia prizes won: $255 (estimated, I did not record any data for maybe three weeks or so)
Trivia spots we’ve played in 2026:
Arbor Brewing Company Microbrewery (14X), McShane’s Pub, (4X), Red Rock Downtown Barbecue (5X), Oscar’s Sports and Grill, (2X), YpsiAlehouse (2X).
We also played one Sporcle Events virtual game in 2026.
We’ve decided to back off from any “league” contention in the My Trivia Live league…for now. It’s possible we may revisit that course of action later this year. I never like to say “never” about anything!
The semifinals and finals games for the MTL league are coming up very soon. I may be tempted to pop into those games as a spectator (more likely for semis than finals).
Wait, scratch that. I’m out of town for semis this time. We’re taking a little trip “Up North.” I’m really looking forward to that!
For the time being, we’re continuing our weekly Sporcle Events music quiz games each Monday (we remain in second place in the overall standings).
Recently, we’ve decided to also play Sporcle Events games Tuesdays at Red Rock Barbecue. We’ve decided to “try” playing all of the remaining games in the season, which would give us the minimum games required for a Globe Games spot.
Yes we know that we only have to play five Sporcle Events games in a season to be able to RSVP for a Globe Game spot! But we want to be able to really “claim” a local trivia spot.
Another local watering hole, Water Tower Distilling, doesn’t work as a local spot for us for a couple of reasons. One, their games are on the same nights as our music quiz games, and two…
Their drinks are…too pricey! No matter how many prizes you win, $15 cocktails… Uh, nope. Not for us.
They even charge ya for the canned club soda! Every other bar you go to that also serves spirits tends to not charge for what is essentially…bubbly water. I understand that the place has rent to pay and sometimes you have to pass on costs to customers, but as a customer, I’m gonna choose not to go to a place that charges for water.
I am not bad mouthing the place by any means! If you really want a crafted cocktail made with locally made spirits, I honestly can’t think of a better place in Ypsi to do that!
A little ways away in Depot Town, the Wax Bar is also a decent cocktail spot. A friend of mine said she met with some former sorority sisters there for a couple of cocktails. My husband and I went there on our anniversary last year.
It’s not a place we’d go every night. The cocktails aren’t cheap! But they are worth every penny if you want one made right!

Aside from all of that, sometimes you just want to have a beer (sometimes even several) during a trivia game. Even if it has very minimal – or zero alcohol. Who’s with me?
I do plan to try hustling a team for the Sporcle Events Globe Games in June. I haven’t talked to my music quiz compadre Kim about this yet, but I’m hoping tht as we did in the past couple of Globe Games, we’ll be able to join forces in some fashion.
Once the Globe Games are done, we may start occasionally visiting McShane’s Pub for MTL games again.
I’m enjoying just focusing on one goal at a time, and enjoying each game at a time! Go Pods!
