It Feels Good To Be a “Pod” Again!

Recently we have started using our “real” trivia team name again at My Trivia Live games.

I have been kind of reluctant to use our whole name – Miskatonic University Fighting Cephalopods. Until now!

My husband, a H.P. Lovecraft fan, made up the team name in 2009 when we started playing Motor City Trivia games at Wolverine State Brewing Company. We were only playing occasionally, it wasn’t until 2012 when we started playing weekly games.

We have used shortened versions of our name at recent games. “Pods” has been a common go-to.

I don’t know why I haven’t been using our whole name. It’s not like long team names aren’t a thing at McShane’s (they definitely are). Maybe I didn’t feel committed enough to the place, who knows?

I overheard someone on a team ahead of us in the standings complaining after a recent game about “finishing in fourth place.” She did not sound happy 😡 We managed to beat them by ONE point in that game. We haven’t been able to do that too many times this season.

If nothing else, maybe we’re putting pressure on the competition? 🤔 No regrets!

It seems like a big step for us to use our whole name again – and I’m kind of… loving it! It feels like a power move 💪 Or as my husband would say – a “dick swinging move?” I don’t have the necessary equipment to do “that,” per se! I guess I’ll fake it til I make it?

We kind of need some power these next few weeks when we try to secure a semifinals spot! It is not going to be easy, and to be honest, we may fail.  Nothing is ever easy for us when it comes to trivia!

Bottom line? We’re not living up to our name if we don’t fight!  🐙 👊
