Go figure that my fondness for silly comedy films helped make my recent birthday not only memorable, but among the best in recent memory!

A fan page I follow on Facebook for the 1985 film Better Off Dead is, as is rumored, managed by actress Diane Franklin herself. I responded to a post yesterday wishing her a happy birthday, mentioning that if was also my birthday and how exciting to have another “birthday twinsie!” She actually commented back, in French (her character Monique in BOD, pictured above was a French exchange student).

“Bon anniversaire Heb!”

Yeah I’m not gonna lie – having a celebrity wish me Happy Birthday – in French kind of helped make my whole day great! 😍

Being able to meet up for a trivia game with a couple of friends last night was also great (even if we didn’t win any prizes). Kim bought me a bottle of paczki flavored vodka (I *may* even wait until Mardis Gras to open it).

thr past few years have been challenging for celebrating birthdays. Doubling down on that challenge is having a winter birthday in Michigan, when weather can stymie your best laid plans.

Speaking of best laid plans, I had planned to meet for a trivia game at a place we’d never played last night, but decided last minute to stick closer to home.
