This morning, I overheard a woman talking about her husband sharing my fascination with bridges. She said, “I don’t know why he likes them.”

How could you not like a bridge?! For one, they are such amazing fears of engineering. Two, water is almost always involved. Three, lift bridges ain’t that common. Duluth, Portland (OR) and Houghton are the only three towns with lift bridges I can name off the roof my head (I’m sure there are more).

Sometimes it’s best to just accept what fascinates your partner – rather than try to understand it.
