It’s officially “summer” in Southeast Michigan. Sure, you can decide that “summer” starts on Memorial Weekend. Or the actual calendar date or…or…
Decide it’s the first time it gets really f—-ing hot. The first really hot days always make me a bit cranky. Kind of like this lady:
Sure, you can find some respite with central AC, having access to a pool or nice swimming beach, or just being one of those shiny happy people who never breaks a sweat and loves hot weather. Or you can travel north where temperatures tend to be cooler (like me in the top photo in Rogers City MI).
Now I’m finding myself thinking of tubing adventures in a river that my mother-in-law conveniently has access to. I tubed that river about 10 years ago or so and actually liked it! Sadly, there is no longer a livery that rents boats and tubes there, and you’re on your own for transporting your gear. But it’s doable, and the Chippewa River also isn’t too far away!
So…maybe buy a couple of tubes on Amazon then?
But what about those times when you’re a bit cooped up at home with the blackout drapes drawn and you can’t stand the thought of another episode of The Boys? Or whatever else you happen to be bingeing at the moment?
Don’t get me wrong, I’m enjoying the series The Boys, but the constant bodily explosions of various sorts are starting to wear on me a bit. That guy with the Fantastic Voyage miniaturization superpower going into that guy’s ass and causing him to blow up after sneezing? Yeah, I’d HAVE to be watching that while I’m eating ๐คฎ
Karl Urban’s super jaded Billy Butcher character can still get it with that limey accent though ๐คฉ
Recently we were “lured,” if you will, to a trivia spot that just might be a nice summer escape close to home. Cranked up AC, trivia, and icy drinks? OK! I have been meaning to try their Purple Rain cocktail.
We also escaped for a theater movie out last night, extended version of Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Following our “date night,”we had to navigate quite a lot of post thunderstorm debris in the road. A bunch of downed branches in the road we took home along the Huron River mde us do a u-turn and drive miles out of our way to get home. That was irritating, but It was really cool seeing all of the lightning!
Guess it’s time to start figuring out how to survive – and enjoy – all of the hot weather on its way here! Lessen the blow at least?
