I have absolutely no idea whether I’ll have more players than just my husband, myself and one other amigo, but today, I made a reservation for a Sporcle Events “Globe Game” for Sunday, June 23.
We had a wild ‘n wacky ride trying to qualify to play. Our “home bar” didn’t end up working out so well for a variety of reasons – including a death in the family…A late season spot being added allowed us to qualify, as well as us having played the minimum five games. We managed to be able to RSVP on the last available day we could do so.
It’s been par for the course in our trivial pursuits in this post pandemic world! It took us a little longer than normal to begin braving the live pub trivia scene, and there were some stumbling blocks along the way, which included, but were not limited to a positive COVID test following trivia meetups (another player not me or my husband), general social anxiety aggravated by lengthy mandatory shutdowns, moon phases (JK) and…numerous other things. Anyone else take one of those drive-thru COVID tests before the at-home tests became widely available? I was so bummed that they didn’t ask if I wanted fries with my nasal invasion! It’s been a fight for sure (though not one involving super cool Samurai swords).
Anyone remember the scene in Kill Bill when Beatrix Kiddo (played by Uma Thurman) has to fight her way out of a grave. Yes, that is a bit how we’ve felt in our trivial pursuits since the pandemic! Only we don’t look as good in yellow motorcycle outfits (yellow just ain’t my color).
As of this posting, I have three players available for this game but am trying to summon at least 1-2 others. Three may be all I’ll have, but I’m just glad we made it to the so called “big dance” at all!
