Trivia Tonight – Also Lions Game! Featuring Amon Ra!

I only recently learned that the Egyptian sun god is playing for the Detroit Lions! Granted, I don’t really follow the NFL at all…

Also, I only paid enough attention in my college mythology class to pass, while my husband – whom, as my college sweetheart, absolutely devoured that class like he was starving and at a Ponderosa buffet. He still re-reads The Egyptian Book of the Dead – for pleasure! Me, on the other hand, can only remember this one fact from that book:

Some dude gets killed and his…member – gets fed to a crocodile.

Still, you can’t be married to a guy for more than 25 years – and not absorb some knowledge of stuff he knows a lot about (I call that “spousemosis”).

So, imagine my excitement when I’m watching a recent Lions game dog and pony pre- game and see that they have a player named…Amon Ra St. Brown.

“Hey,” I said to my husband – “Isn’t Amon Ra Egyptian or something?”

He was nice about it, but I’m sure he rolled his eyes at me…

“Yes, that’s the Egyptian sun god.”

But he had more to say about this!

“Some parents name their children Mohammed or Jesus – his parents decided they wanted to straight up name him ‘God.'”

All right then! And since the Lions also have a player named Alex Anzalone, who looks like Thor – the God of Thunder? How can they lose?

I’ll be wearing my Lions jersey when I go out today. Yes, I really have one! Herman Moore, #84, for inquiring minds! I got it dirt cheap about 20 some odd years ago…

Go Lions and all bow down to the Sun God – and the God of Thunder!
