Random Thoughts About Being A Kid Now – Versus In The 1970s
Today, I was in the car with my husband on a grocery run. And I said:
“I’m glad that if I’m forced to live in a world like this, I’m doing it more toward the end of my life than when I was a kid. It used to be all about how we wanted to teach the world to sing and to give peace a chance. I can’t even imagine what it’s like for the kids who have to grow up with what’s going on now.”
It’s hard to not get discouraged about things, especially now. Sometimes I need to see photos of myself like this in a vain attempt to bring me back down to earth. Interesting note, I’m in my basement right now – listening to music, reading over rules to a new pirate board game we just got, and there’s a map on the wall behind me just like in this photo! So I guess you could say I still like to surround myself with toys, though now the toys are board games, laptop, stereo speakers, etc.! But in reality, I’m really only hanging out in the basement because I needed to do some cleaning and laundry down here…
