Nothing is official yet, but there is some talk about playing a My Trivia Live game 6 p.m. Friday, June 19 at Maplewood Lanes in Saline! It’s almost like the universe spoke to us about playing here (more about that in a bit)!
I’m not sure we’ve played there since December, 2017 – and when we did play there – it was a “makeup” game for a game I’d called off at Wurst because of a snowstorm. I can count on one hand the total number of times me and/or my team have played here.
Fast forward to two nights ago, when one of our neighbors was taking an after-dark walk – my husband and I were out on our front lawn enjoying some drinks. We chatted with this guy a bit, and as it turns out, he is the pro shop guy at Maplewood Lanes! He is still on furlough, as bowling – in bowling alleys – hasn’t been green lighted yet for opening back up. Not to profile, but he looks EXACTLY like you’d expect someone in charge of a bowling pro shop to look (I’ll say no more)!
Just last night, I was reading a post from a woman who does the FB posts for Maplewood Lanes – and she threw out a suggestion of a 6-8 p.m. Friday game at Maplewood. They are operating on limited hours and only serving food/drinks – not bowling. The trivia game will apparently take place in the bowling alley section! I’m intrigued by the idea of playing a trivia game in an oddball setting (though it wouldn’t be the first time I’ve played trivia games in rather unique settings)! There was that Geeks Who Drink game in Staunton, VA which was in a very old multi-story building. The men’s bathroom had a bathtub in it! We played in a lounge on the top floor, which offered a good birds-eye view of the town, which was founded in the early 1700s. It’s also the birthplace of Woodrow Wilson, but that’s not important right now!
So I put out feelers to a possible third player, who said he is a maybe. So “maybe” we’ll play Friday, June 19! More about this story as it develops…
