We’ve had lots of crappy weather days lately, and I’ve also been feeling a bit crappy (usually on days when it’s nice, like Wednesday, when I got a tooth pulled and my gums stitched up…big fun)!
Today, I was feeling “good enough,” so I took a walk. WAY too late in the day for someone who doesn’t tolerate heat very well! It was only 3.6 miles, but man…it must’ve gotten 10 degrees warmer coming back than it was when I was setting out! And almost NO shady spots at all on my walk back.
One observation, a giant church near me was opened up again today. But the parking lot was not even remotely full at all, so I guess they’re following the “don’t pack ’em in rule” that seems to be the normal for everything right now. No thanks. Not that I ever attended church before the pandemic (except to get married, LOL), nope, nope nope! Not going to “pray away” THIS virus!
If I’m going to try doing daily walks, I’m gonna have to get up by 8 a.m. Which is what I did when I was working, so yeah…
A song I heard blaring at 2 a.m. this morning reminded me of the “night club” scene in American Psycho. One of the characters mentioned cocaine stalls…More about cocaine – and ’80s techno music – in a bit!
Getting up by 8 a.m. may have been a bit rough to do today! Some residents living within a mile of me must’ve had some kind of wild party (almost bummed I wasn’t invited). Around 2 a.m., I was awoken to the words of the 1987 MARRS song “Pump up the Volume.” I also heard quite a…lot – of sirens. This whole scenario could not have ended well. I thought about going out there, shaking my fist at them and saying:
“How dare you rascals wake me up at 2 a.m. with your…with your ’80s techno music!”
And this was from about a half mile to a mile away (if that far)! I can only imagine what it must’ve been like for their neighbors (unless they were all in on the fun). Is there enough cocaine in the world for listening to jams like that in the wee hours? Are drugs getting trafficked properly right now, or are there “supply chain” issues like they are with meat (sorry, sometimes strange questions pop into my head).
Here are some very relevant lyrics I heard on my mp3 player during the walk:
I’m burnin’, burnin’, I got the fever
I know for sure, there ain’t no cure
So feel it, don’t fight it, go with the flow
Gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme one more for the road
No cure for Corona yet!
No big plans today. Geography trivia game later with Mike and Brad. Plan to get flowers planted outside sometime next week. On that note, it’s time for lunch!!!
