A couple of deer wandered into our back yard just now. One of them looked young – and inquisitive. But since deer know all too well how edible they are – and never, ever forget that they’re prey – they are naturally skittish. Nine times out of ten they’ll skedaddle before you have a chance to take a picture of them. They have since hightailed into the woods behind our house.
