You’d think the fact that I use a utility knife at work nearly every day that I would be no stranger to cuts. Not true… it’s a rare, rare occurrence.
Until today! Usually I wear work gloves, but stopped wearing them recently because they’re getting too…gross (I need new ones). Gloves would have prevented the cut (pardon me while I choke on some irony).
Guess what I used to stop the bleeding after I rinsed the cut really well? Not t.p., not tissues, and certainly not useless brown paper towel.
My supervisor laughed when she saw the “other” clean, absorbent thing I used to stop the bleeding (maxi pad). I just grabbed one of the ones supplied in the employee restroom.
“I’ve seen other people use them for that,” she said.
Why not? They’re clean and way more absorbent than tissues/paper towels. I’ve read about tampons being used by women in the military for bullet wounds. Guess they’re good for nosebleeds, too.
So I got some new bandages! My first choice was Hello Kitty, second choice Batman, but sadly CVS had neither of those.

No, I’m not flipping you off (even though it is my middle finger)!
