Though it may seem tame by today’s standards, Le Coucher de la Mariée is widely considered to be the “first” pornographic film. Only two minutes of the original film survive (which includes a strip tease sequence). The film was first screened in Paris in 1896. Considering how many layers of clothing women were expected to wear in those days, a strip tease would have been a hell of a thing!
