My husband and I did some grocery shopping Tuesday at our friendly neighborhood Save a Lot, and I needed “work snacks,” so I grabbed a couple of boxes of “nutbars.” I joked, “Well, you ARE what you eat!” I actually just wanted regular chewy granola bars, but they were out of stock. That’s what you get at these smaller grocery stores sometimes – kind of a “rotating” selection of things! I’ll never forget that delicious queso dip they had back in January as a “special buy.” Had I known how incredibly good it was, I would have bought more than two packages (seriously, it was SO good)!
Here’s a pic of the “nut bars:”

All joking about the name aside? These things are pretty good! How good? More about that in a bit!
I decided to take a post-work walk today, even though I already spent a few hours “sweating to the oldies” at work. No climate control – though my co-workers were nice today and didn’t whine about me turning on the industrial-strength fan. Hey…if you don’t want to be cold, just work harder (LOL)!
Before setting out, I ate one of the “nut bars” (well, more like inhaled it), and downed a glass of cold water. It wasn’t until later when I would realize the sheer power of that nut bar!

I chose this shirt because of its bright color (I like being really visible when I’m out walking).
Today’s walk was about 3.5 miles and took about 55 minutes to finish. At first, I thought I’d be too chilly in my short-sleeved T-shirt and Adidas “capri” pants (which on my lanky frame are more like cropped pants, and don’t look too closely at them, or you will see reddish deck stain on them from our deck project five years ago). Don’t judge me! If you want to buy me some expensive Lululemon yoga wear, be my guest (LOL)! But if it makes me look too “basic” or requires that I hold a Starbucks latte while wearing it, I won’t wear it…
Sadly, I didn’t manage to get any animal photos on my walk, though I did see something interesting happen with a chicken! While I was walking by the “chicken house” on Sweet Street, I was hoping I’d be able to get a photo of one of the hens wandering around in the yard. Instead I saw one trotting her fool butt off. I thought maybe I’d startled her, but then I saw that she was making a beeline to a human who was walking out the door! It looked like she was…greeting him! For some reason, this brought a smile to my face. I didn’t want to take a photo of the chicken while the homeowner was right there.
Looking back on today’s walk, it was most likely that nut bar that really kept me going! I was initially going to do just my quick 2.5 mile loop, but decided to add a mile and trek all the way south to East Cross Street. In addition to the dark chocolate, nuts and berries in my “nut bar” helping keep my pistons going, I also had some good tunes. I seemed to be in a Blondie mood, as I didn’t skip any of these Blondie songs today – The Tide is High, Rapture and Sunday Girl.

Blondie’s highest-charting singles include Heart of Glass, Call Me, The Tide is High and Rapture, which all reached #1 on the U.S. charts. Also I’ve sang all of these songs on karaoke nights! Sunday Girl peaked at #1 on some overseas charts, but made no real dent on the U.S. charts.
The newest of these songs to my “collection” (downloaded within the past month) is Sunday Girl. I’m kind of bummed it’s NOT the version where she sings a portion of it in French. I’m sorry…but there is just SOMETHING about Deborah Harry singing in French that makes me… (ahem) – question my sexuality! She also sings in French on Rapture and on Call Me. Anyone remember the movie A Fish Called Wanda? Jamie Lee Curtis’ character loses her shit every time people speak in languages other than English. I get it…I really do!
Speaking of French? This silly blog is fin!
