My husband and I visited a local watering hole after a pub trivia game tonight, and a trivia “comrade” named Scott was there and doing Buzztime battle. By his lonesome. He was wearing his Sporcle hoodie with “More Beer Less Pants” printed on the back. I jokingly said, “Good thing I didn’t also wear my Sporcle hoodie. Wouldn’t THAT be embarrassing?” Jesus, I hadn’t seen him in quite a while. He’s always fun with the banter in trivia settings. I’ll never forget that MTL finals in July, 2017 when he passed me en route to the loo and said to me, “You’re not feeling the pressure, are ya?” That’s because my team was in the lead and would end up winning the whole championship.
“No, I said.” THAT was a lie! I was DEFINITELY feeling the pressure that day! It’s one of many, many reasons I’ve decided to lighten up with the trivial pursuits as of late. It’s really been a good thing, though I do still enjoy a taste of “competition” from time to time!
Back to the Buzztime battle! Scott said he wanted someone to “beat up,” so he tried to talk me into signing in and playing, but I was reluctant. I even tried getting my husband to “man” the Playmaker so I could just “feed” him answers (which is our usual M.O.) But my husband wasn’t interested.
“I’m done with trivia for tonight,” he said.
Not to be deterred…Scott went up and fetched a Playmaker and set it right in front of me…”Oh, OK,” I said. “So…we’re doing this then?”
So I signed in and wound up kicking HIS ass in two consecutive games – Countdown, and the Late Shift . Though to be fair, my husband helped with at least 2-3 of the questions. Kind of made me feel a bit better about our pub trivia game that went a bit…south earlier!
Looking back, I’m glad he “coerced” me into that little trivia battle! It helped scratch an itch, that’s for sure! Breaking 10,000 in a Countdown game is a rarity for me – and this time, I broke 11,000! And here’s a pic of my Buzztime avatar:
