I wasn’t scheduled to work today, so I took advantage of playing a Tuesday night trivia night. It’s not the most common night I go out for a trivia game, so my husband and I talked about where we wanted to play. The place we both wanted to play is a place we’ve played semi-frequently before. In the summer of 2017, I’d say we played there about 1-2 times a month or so. The bar is located on a lake, so our inner nature lovers enjoyed the sunsets, checking out the boats, birds, etc. This was also the very first place I played a solo game. Looks like me and my team have played 24 times at this spot since October, 2015 – most recently in May of this year (we used the league number of one of the regular teams there since one of the players had to miss the game for illness). We used the prize money we won to buy lunch while we watched a World Cup match later in June.
During my online “game prep” last night (looking up social media “clues” and newsletter answers) I learned almost completely by accident that this trivia spot has a different permanent host than it used to have. That was enough to encourage us to seek out a different spot.
Dan’s Downtown Tavern in Saline? Mike said he didn’t want to play there. Tower Inn in Ypsilanti? Nope, their trivia nights haven’t started yet (though we probably will check them out when they do). Session Room? Nope, a bit too far away and (ugh) Jackson Road and its Michigan lefts, no thank you! They’re rough enough to navigate when you’re sober!
So I took a look at Haymaker Public House, which is owned by Sporcle Live. Their nightly prizes are $75 cash for first place, $50 in gift cards for second. Winner winner, chicken dinner! We decided we’d check it out. We’d only played at this bar twice before – the first time in March, 2017 and next in February of 2018.
Recap of that game will be posted soon! We won a second place/$50 gift card prize for game two. And something that will only be interesting to you blog readers – THREE questions we had last night were ones we got correct because of blogs I’ve posted on this site! You’ll learn what THOSE questions were when I get that recap published here (yet another “blog exclusive”).
