I’ve finally gotten around to reading the rules of one of the trivia leagues in which I play regularly. Now I know about the “special” semifinal they have for teams that finished in places 11-20 in the “barhop” standings. This explains so much! At these “special” semifinals, five teams out of 10 win a tournament spot. The odds are better for teams to advance in these semifinals than in regular semifinals.

I know I remembered reading this before, but I must’ve forgotten it. Doesn’t really apply to my team, since we just play at one bar, once per week.

This might be totally worth looking into! Play twice a week, get into the “special” semifinal. Hmmm….pardon me while I stroke my non-existent beard!

Nah. Nothing like that’s going to happen with my team now. We’re already playing twice a week in the Sporcle Live league on some weeks (about 1.5 times a week on average, LOL). This is something that may have to wait until the winter season, IF I could find a second decent local spot to play. It’s hard enough “herding the cats” as it is.

On another note, my team is absolutely PUMPED about playing in finals this coming Saturday! I feel really confident about the player lineup I’ll be using this time – more confident than I’ve ever felt about any player lineup I’ve brought to a MTL tournament. There will be some really, really good competition in the room….I can’t wait to see how we fare against the best of the best. And to those teams, I say “Bring it!”  I know WE will!
