My husband and I were having some drinks and watching the 1981 film Porky’s last night. We had a trivia question about this movie and missed it in an ’80s movies trivia night, so we thought we’d give it a look! I’d never seen it at all, and Mike said he’d only seen bits and pieces as a kid. While we were watching, we noticed one of the actors was familiar. No, it wasn’t Kim Cattrall!

Anyone else think it was weird how many gym instructors they had in this movie? Here’s Kim Cattrall as Miss Honeywell in Porky’s
When we first saw “Mr. Porky” in the movie, Mike said he looked like “that guy from Better Off Dead,” which is one of my favorite ’80s movies . I confirmed his “spotting” by checking imdb. He was right! In a way, they played nearly identical characters in both films – with some other…eerie similarities! Check it out…

Roger Wilson (left) as “Mickey” and Chuck Mitchell (right) as “Porky” in Porky’s. Mitchell plays a loudmouthed brothel owner who didn’t like punk kids visiting his place of business! Note the cigar…

Chuck Mitchell (left) as “Rocko” in Better Off Dead with John Cusack as “Lane” – telling him he needs to wear the pig hat “with pride.” He also tells him to wash his hands “on your own time!” Having this guy own a fast-food restaurant called “Pig Burgers” HAD to be a nod to his role in Porky’s, amirite?

Would you get a load of that….(drool) station wagon? 🙂 That was the car driven by John Cusack’s character in the film. He winds up upgrading to a ’60s-era Camaro later in the film, which his new girlfriend helps restore.

Lane with “Monique,” the French foreign exchange student who becomes his girlfriend (Diane Franklin).

Come on! This Camaro can’t possibly be more awesome than the station wagon he was driving before, can it? 🙂
