I just got blog follower #42 today! As anyone who is a fan of the work of writer Douglas Adams knows, 42 is a very special number! And not just because it’s also the jersey number that was worn by baseball great Jackie Robinson. Did y’all know that Jackie Robinson was born the same month that U.S. president Theodore Roosevelt died and was given the middle name Roosevelt as a tribute to the late president? My trivia team didn’t know this when we had this as a question in a trivia tournament last February!

Back to the number “42.” In Douglas Adams’ works, 42 is the answer to life, universe and everything, which was calculated by the computer named Deep Thought. In short, it’s kind of a cool number – almost as cool as “69,” which will be my next “benchmark” for this blog. The number “50” is SO overrated…I’m holding out for “69!” If nothing else, it will be an excuse to use this photo…
