Tonight was one of the worst trivia nights we’ve had in quite a while in terms of scores. Seventeen points after game 1. Fifty  points after game two. I had three different players turn down my requests to come out to play tonight. Brad just said “no thanks” even after I offered to give him a ride (he won’t drive to “away” trivia games). Dave just informed me that he that he wants a little “break” from trivia so he can “sort his life out.” Uh, OK! I reminded him he can take a break until our VENUE TOURNAMENT GAME if he wants! I also invited Evan out to play, but he was playing with his own team at Sticks. Understandable – though he did say if he didn’t have players show up, he would have joined us. So it was just Mike and I. We did pretty poorly in game one, wagered 20 and missed a final about “actresses.” This was an actress I literally knew ONE THING about. Game two worked out a bit better, we wound up getting the final question correct, but were too far behind in the standings to make any bid at prizes.

These things happen…

But a couple of things happened tonight that gave me a little joy! Getting the final question correct in game two was kind of joyous! Having the trivia host come up to me and congratulate me for getting the final question correct (in a category she did not expect me to know anything about – sports geography) was a nice surprise! For the record, I really don’t know much about sports at all. But I have tried to learn SOME things about sports for trivia, one of which is learning where all of the pro sports teams are located! I also had a player from another team thank me for helping his trivia team out on Tuesday by playing under their league number. Both of those things pretty much made the night worthwhile – even though we won no prizes!

I was just as happy to get a sports final question correct as I was to be thanked for doing a good deed for another team! You’re welcome…it was my pleasure! And thanks again for helping my team out in the past by playing under our league number! #ittakesavillage
